Two PhD positions are available associated to the ERC Consolidator project ‘Low-Coordinate Bimetallics for the Catalytic Activation of Carbon Dioxide, Nitrous Oxide and Ammonia’ (BiMetalGAS). The goal will be to develop either highly polarized bimetallic complexes or transition metal/heavier tetrylene (Ge, Sn) compounds sharing the key feature of low-coordination environments. This will be achieved by the use of highly congested ligands, primarily terphenyl and cavity-shaped phosphines. Besides, unusual heterobimetallic systems with open-shell configurations will be investigated to explore single-electron reactivity.
