The laboratory of Biosystems Chemistry of Natural Products at the Department of Bioscience (TUM) in Munich (Germany) has an open PhD position in Sustainable Biocatalysis, under the supervision of Prof. Ana I. Benítez-Mateos. The PhD student will work with a young and dynamic group in brand-new labs. The project will focus on developing new methodologies to create more stable enzymes using intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs). Enzymatic cascades will be assembled for the sustainable synthesis of natural products with relevance as pharmaceuticals, food additives, and other high-value molecules.

Required background

– The candidate must hold a Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related fields.

– Knowledge of biochemical reactions, molecular biology, and protein chemistry. Previous research experience on enzymatic assays and computational tools (Pymol, Chimera) is desired but not essential.

Application

Please send your CV, motivation letter, and Master’s grades to Prof. Ana I. Benítez-Mateos (ana.benitez-mateos@tum.de).
