PhD Position Available – Photocatalytic Polymeric Vesicles for Artificial Photosynthesis at Casadevall Lab (ICIQ-URV)

The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is seeking a PhD student to work in Dr. Carla Casadevall’s Research Group. They are looking for a motivated PhD candidate to work on the project “Machine Learning and High-Throughput Screening-Accelerated Discovery of Photocatalytic Polymeric Vesicles for Artificial Photosynthesis”. The project will focus on the design, synthesis and optimization of bioinspired catalytic polymeric vesicles for solar fuel production and sustainable chemical synthesis, with particular emphasis on light-driven CO₂ conversion. The PhD will combine polymer chemistry, molecular catalysis, nanoscience, photochemistry, spectroscopy, high-throughput screening, automation and machine learning. The position is funded through the national consortium AIA2025-163492-C54, financed by MCIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033, and offers an interdisciplinary training environment at the interface of catalysis, artificial photosynthesis and AI-guided materials discovery.
